From Times Wire Reports
Almost four decades after Ebrahim Murat was evicted from his Cape Town home with 67,000 others, he got a new house in his old neighborhood.
In 1966, the apartheid government declared District Six a “whites only” area and evicted blacks. Former residents such as Murat may now return or get compensation. Most of their former homes have been destroyed.
Former President Nelson Mandela gave Murat, 87, the keys to the new home, the first to be given to about 4,000 families.
