Serving up art at the coffeehouse

I found Kevin Bronson’s article about the photos of rocker Robb MacLean of great interest and also the whole concept of the Ungallery (“A Rock ‘n’ Roll of Film Life,” Jan. 22).
If Bronson visits many coffeehouses and other public places in L.A., he will find walls lined with photos created by locals, many with real talent, who exhibit their work in these places in lieu of galleries.
There is some real talent to be discovered in these places and some interesting pictures and stories to be told. The whole concept democratizes art and gives artists an opportunity to exhibit what might otherwise be denied by commercial politics or other considerations.
For example, I have 10 photos hanging at the Starbucks at the Beverly Glen Center on Beverly Glen Boulevard just south of Mulholland. The subject is Paris, but the point of view is a far cry from the Eiffel Towers or Bateaux-Mouches on the Seine.
I have recently seen similarly worthy exhibits at Studio City Fitness in the Washington Mutual building at Lankershim and Riverside, and at Aroma Cafe on Tujunga in Studio City. I am sure there are many more.
