A 38-year-old Ventura County Jail inmate who had been on life-support systems after hanging himself in his cell this week has died, authorities said Friday.
Manuel Roa of Oxnard was pronounced dead at 11:25 p.m. Thursday at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, the county medical examiner’s office said. The cause of death was asphyxia by hanging.
Roa, who left a suicide note behind, was not considered a suicide risk when he was booked into the jail Sunday.
