Santa Anita’s Fans Kept Waiting
In his article on the opening of Santa Anita Dec. 27, Bill Christine mentions the hundreds of fans seen leaving early.
My family and I were among them, driven out by the interminable lines for everything from entrance to the track to placing or collecting a bet to buying a refreshment. There were thousands of frustrated people trying to buy a beer or place a bet without spending 20 or more minutes doing so.
Santa Anita’s consistent understaffing of its facility is creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of dwindling attendance.
