$177-Million Transfer From DWP Approved

The City Council voted Friday to approve the transfer of $177 million from the Department of Water and Power to the city general fund, an annual action that allows the public utility to help balance the city budget.
City activists said the transfer, including $27 million from the water fund, raised questions about the need for the DWP’s proposed 18% increase in water rates over the next two years.
