ABC puts ‘Karen Sisco’ out of sight

ABC has decided to make first-year drama “Karen Sisco’s” temporary hiatus permanent.

The crime series, which starred Carla Gugino and was based on the Elmore Leonard novel and the film “Out of Sight,” was pulled from the network’s lineup before the November ratings sweeps. At the time, CBS said it would retool the series slightly and bring it back sometime this year. But on Thursday, executives decided against resuming production on the show. There are three unaired episodes in the can; ABC did not say whether they would air.

ABC has struggled with its dramas this season, having already canceled “L.A. Dragnet” and, earlier this week, cut back its order on the first-year drama “Threat Matrix.”

Meanwhile, “The Sharon Osbourne Show” will also come to a close at the end of this season. The Tribune station group -- a division of the Tribune Co., which also owns The Times -- decided not to renew the syndicated afternoon talk show starring Ozzy Osbourne’s wife, effectively killing it.
