Pakistan and India agreed Tuesday to hold a series of talks in coming weeks on a variety of issues, including a dam being constructed in the Indian-held portion of Kashmir that Pakistan says threatens the water supply on its side of the disputed border, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.

The first of the talks will take place here in the Pakistani capital on July 28-29 and focus on India’s Baglihar hydroelectric dam, which is being built on the Chenab River. Pakistan says the dam would deprive its agricultural heartland in Kashmir and Punjab of much-needed water.
