Liberty Loses Club-Record 6th in a Row
Anna DeForge had nine of her career-high 26 points in a 23-7 second-half run, and the Mercury won, 72-60, Thursday night at Phoenix to hand the New York Liberty a franchise-record sixth consecutive loss.
DeForge had 21 points in the second half for Phoenix, which overcame a 20-4 deficit.
Diana Taurasi had 20 points for the Mercury, which scored the first nine points of the second half and led by as many as 14. DeForge tied a franchise mark with five three-point baskets and also had five rebounds and five assists.
Becky Hammon had 20 points and seven rebounds for New York, which missed 21 of 31 shots in the second half and made 16 turnovers that led to 15 Mercury points.
San Antonio 70, Minnesota 57 -- Adrienne Goodson had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and the Silver Stars ended a franchise-record losing streak of eight games with a victory at San Antonio.
The victory was also San Antonio’s first in June.
Minnesota, which has lost four of its last five games, was led by Katie Smith with 18 points.
