Vinny Castilla knew there were high expectations when he took over for injured stars Preston Wilson and Larry Walker in the middle of the Colorado Rockies’ lineup.

“When Larry and Preston went down, and I was going to hit fourth, I had more responsibility, especially with the game on the line,” Castilla said. “I was prepared for that physically and mentally.”

Castilla proved that Monday when he hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning, completing the Rockies’ comeback from a six-run deficit in their 7-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Trailing 6-0 after three innings, the Rockies scored five times in the seventh, thanks in part to home runs by Matt Holliday and Charles Johnson. In the ninth, Todd Helton drew a leadoff walk on four pitches from Tim Worrell (0-1), and Castilla followed with his 10th home run, a drive that barely cleared the left-field wall.
