Now That’s a Formula
It has been several months and there is not one complaint about the lost column of letters for Saturday’s Viewpoint.
My chance of getting a published letter has decreased by one-third. After consulting the BCS computer system, an average of approximately seven letters a week will not see publication. Upon further BCS examination, that amounts to 463 missing comments (BCS math). If The Times trims 3% (a BCS year-end stat) of feature writer stories (you know who you are), there will be sufficient newspaper space to bring back the third column.

My 4-year-old son asked, “Why doesn’t USC play Auburn, Oklahoma play Utah, then the winners play for the title?”
Me, a PhD, could not explain to him the wisdom of the BCS.
