CROSS-COUNTRY
* Dylan Jaedtke, Simi Valley Royal and Alyssa Craft, Palmdale Highland: Jaedtke timed 15 minutes, 6 seconds and Craft clocked 17:40 for the fastest boys’ and girls’ times, respectively, over a three-mile course in the annual Seaside Invitational at Ventura State Beach.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
* Emily Puente and Mary Lind, Covina Gladstone: Puente had five kills, 10 digs and two aces in the Gladiators’ 25-24, 25-17 victory over Pasadena Westridge in the championship match to earn MVP honors in the Gladstone tournament. Lind had nine kills and 10 digs and also was an all-tournament selection.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
* Jay Connolly, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake: The senior goalie had 13 saves as the Wolverines (4-0) won the Jim Toring Memorial tournament for the fifth consecutive year with a 3-1 victory over Los Alamitos (3-1) in the final game at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach.
* Jarrette Capelli, Ventura Buena: Scored the decisive goal for the Bulldogs with 38 seconds left in an 11-10 victory over Los Angeles Loyola in the title game of the Conejo Valley Classic at Westlake High.
* Justin Schwaigger and Kyle Ripley, Newbury Park: Schwaigger had 27 saves and Ripley scored four goals as the Panthers (3-1) edged Thousand Oaks, 10-9, in overtime for third place in the Conejo Valley Classic.
