Edison Aims to Make Fixes as Blackout Risks Persist
Southern California Edison hopes to complete repairs at a Moorpark substation by Thursday, but until then some communities in Los Angeles and Ventura counties could continue to face rolling blackouts, company officials said Monday.
The affected areas include Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Malibu, Calabasas and Newbury Park.
Because of an equipment failure Saturday at a substation in Moorpark, the company put in place a plan to periodically cut off electricity in various areas to avoid a larger unplanned power outage, a spokesman said.
