Man Badly Wounded in Police Shooting

A man was in critical condition at California Hospital after being shot Sunday afternoon by a Los Angeles police officer with the Newton Division, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at about 4:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Main Street, said Sgt. Terry Barclay of the Newton Community Police Station.
Barclay declined to release other details, pending completion of an investigation.
Sara Faden, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman, said she did not have any other information Sunday night.
