Higher taxes needed

Re “Spending Cap Called Key to National Plan,” July 25
Are we satisfied with second-rate schools? Is inadequate law enforcement OK? Are we willing to accept crumbling highways? Are we concerned about inadequate health coverage? I think it is safe to say we care about all of the above. Well, we have to be willing to pay for it! We readily pay big bucks for giant SUVs and all our toys, but then we turn around and cry, “Don’t raise my taxes!” Wise up, folks, if you want a future. I for one would gladly pay for better schools. I’ll just drive a smaller car.
