Man Arrested in Teen’s Hit-and-Run Death
An Anaheim motorist who reported his SUV stolen over the weekend has been arrested for allegedly striking and killing a 16-year-old pedestrian and fleeing the scene, officials said Friday.
Placido Miranda, 46, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony hit and run, manslaughter, filing a false police report and insurance fraud. Bail was set at $250,000.
Police said Miranda was the driver of the SUV that struck Jack Kellum of Anaheim about 1:30 a.m. Sunday as he and two friends walked across Harbor Boulevard near La Palma Avenue. Kellum later died at UCI Medical Center.
