Election Is Certified; Dictator’s Son Wins

Togo’s constitutional court certified election results showing that the son of this West African nation’s late dictator won last month’s disputed presidential election.
Chief Justice Atsu Koffi Amega confirmed results showing that Faure Gnassingbe won 60% of the vote.
Opposition leader Bob Akitani had filed an appeal, complaining that ballot boxes were stuffed and stolen and that voter lists were tampered with. The court disagreed.
