A 43-year-old man died late Saturday night after an Amtrak train hit him as he lay on the tracks in Dana Point, authorities said.
The conductor of the southbound train “saw the man lying on the tracks but was unable to stop in time,” said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Larry Abbott. The man died at the scene of the 10:15 p.m. accident. Coroner’s officials identified him as Douglas Price of Laguna Niguel. It wasn’t clear why he was on the tracks.
