It’s important, because the winningest team would have home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. Connecticut is the league’s hottest team, with an eight-game winning streak after Tuesday’s 66-52 victory over New York. But if the Sparks win tonight, that would give them the tiebreaker (head-to-head competition) should the teams finish with the same record.
