Bolder Moves Needed to Attract Business to L.A.
Although I applaud the steps the City Council has taken in the last two years to make Los Angeles a more business-friendly city, its omission from the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp.’s list is clear evidence that there is more work to be done (“ ‘Business Friendly’ Cities List Omits L.A.,” Aug. 3).
We cannot consider ourselves a leading, cutting-edge and growth-oriented city if we do not have the ability to attract and maintain top businesses.
Our city’s ability to accomplish its housing, transportation and economic goals will depend in large part on our forging strong civic-business partnerships with corporate America. Without the support of corporate America, such goals are unrealistic.
I encourage the City Council to take even bolder steps to make Los Angeles a more business-friendly city.
