After Willy Taveras grounded out against reliever Jose Capellan (2-1), Lamb and Craig Biggio singled to put runners at the corners, and Lance Berkman was intentionally walked. Aubrey Huff hit a sharp grounder that first baseman Jeff Cirillo caught. He touched first -- taking away a force home -- and then threw to catcher Damian Miller, who stepped on the plate but didn’t tag Lamb.

New York 11, at Colorado 3: David Wright hit a grand slam and drove in a season-high five runs, and Jose Valentin homered twice as the Mets earned the best record in baseball. New York improved to 82-49 (.626), percentage points better than Detroit.
