Federated Department Stores Inc. said it would close five distribution centers, affecting as many as 750 jobs, as it strove to cut costs and realign its Macy’s division after the acquisition of May Department Stores Co. last year.
The department store operator, aiming to reduce duplicate locations, said it would close distribution centers in Manchester, Conn., and Baltimore in June. It plans to close centers in Aurora, Colo.; Portland, Ore.; and Salt Lake City in August.
