10 Are Charged With Hazardous Waste Scam
The district attorney’s office filed felony charges against 10 people Tuesday for allegedly running hazardous-waste disposal scams in which they posed as registered waste haulers and pocketed $150 to $300 to cart away gas, paint and other flammable materials, sometimes in unsecured, wood-lined trucks.
All 10 were charged with trying to transport hazardous waste to an unauthorized site, a felony, and lacking proper paperwork, registration and liability insurance, all misdemeanors.
Two of them were charged with child endangerment for allegedly making teenagers load waste: Troy Larue Lee, 40, of Rialto and Lynette Leanne Reaves, 43, of Murrieta, who was also accused of driving under the influence.
