Man Killed in Clash With Maywood Officer

An armed 18-year-old man was killed by a Maywood police officer, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
Silvio Canelo died at the scene in the 5100 block of Clara Street about 12:25 a.m. Wednesday after a Maywood officer responding to a burglary call confronted Canelo in a driveway and tried to arrest him, deputies and coroner’s officials said.
Canelo spun away and as he tried to pull a loaded semiautomatic pistol from his pocket, the officer shot him, authorities said.
