About time Disney joins the fight against obesity
Regarding “Disney cleans plate of junk food,” Oct. 17:
I applaud Walt Disney Co.’s efforts to offer healthier food choices for children. The use of cartoons and comics to lure children and their parents into purchasing fatty, sugary foods has gone on too long. It is about time that major corporations start doing their part in fighting childhood obesity.
Ultimately, parents should be teaching a healthy way of life at home, which then will serve as a blueprint for how kids should eat as they mature, but that is easier said than done.
There are millions of ads based on popular toys and characters that drive children toward unhealthy foods.
This is everyone’s problem, and it is time to treat it as such.
