A toddling time

Talk about sour grapes, bad sportsmanship and a grumpy old man. Your ex-sports editor should put down his pencil and just fade away [“An Olympic bid where fresh is flat,” April 17].
Is Bill Dwyre’s crybaby approach what we want to teach our kids?

There, there, old fellow. Take my hanky and dry your tears. Sometimes things look far worse than they are. Losing host city bid status should hurt no more than seeing the departure of a high-maintenance wife you really didn’t like anymore.
Now we Chicagoans are stuck with promoting a hard-to-sell proposal for two years and if we win, we lose. For serving as host will eat up tax money better spent elsewhere and tie up our city endlessly with crowds and traffic -- for a fleeting glory.

Nobody feels sorry for Los Angeles not getting the Olympic bid for 2016.
Nobody but Los Angeles, that is.
Sounds like sour grapes in a California vineyard to me, Mr. Dwyre.
We’ll see you in 2016. L.A. is like one big friendly neighborhood, right? So make sure to bring all your friends like Britney Spears, Ben Affleck and Pamela Anderson. I’ll have my people call your people.
