She’s pirate of the House?

Stridently vigilant against what it believes is copyright hypocrisy, geek site TechDirt.com reports that Republicans cried “Pirate!” when Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi posted C-SPAN footage of a floor debate on her blog in an effort to stop her, but it turns out the video was shot with government cameras, so that debate is in the public domain.

Pelosi did take down video from a committee hearing that was shot with C-SPAN cameras and not in the public domain.

Nonprofit C-SPAN is funded by fees collected by the cable industry as a public service, not by the government. TechDirt is usually non-or anti-partisan -- it frequently calls attention to whatever it perceives as assaults on individual freedom, particularly in the area of copyright and the Internet.
