Motorist shot, killed in car near onramp

A motorist died from injuries he suffered after being shot in his car near an onramp of the northbound 710 Freeway in East Los Angeles, authorities said Wednesday.
The victim, described only as an adult white male, was found wounded in a gray Mercedes about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near the 3rd Street onramp, said Sheriff’s Deputy Frank La Piana. One of the vehicle’s windows was shot out, he said.
He was pronounced dead at a hospital, La Piana said.
The incident shut down the northbound 710 Freeway for more than five hours, authorities said.
