This place is on the level

Level One on Wilshire just got some new life. The nightclub recently morphed into a supper club called Life and its glamorous interior is attracting top promoters.... In more new news, Facade (formerly Ivar) just launched “Fame,” a Thursday night dance club featuring Sugar Ray’s DJ Homicide. He is among the chosen spinners on deck for “Summer Thursdays” at Area, which launches June 21 at the WeHo nightclub and continues throughout the hot season. Along with Homicide, expect to find Samantha Ronson, Adam 12, Frankie Inglese, Vice and pro-skater-turned DJ Chad Muska.... Veteran Hollywood nightclub doorman-turned-manager Shayne Anderson is now shacking up at the Penthouse, the hotspot at the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica. Just last week, Owen and Luke Wilson checked in, along with Terrence Howard and Sean Penn.

Gets the Licks, keeps on tickin’

Pink was in the crowd at Spaceland Monday for a set by Juliette Lewis & the Licks, then both she and the punker-actress headed for Metal Skool at the Key Club, where Pink joined the resident headbangers on vocals for a cover of Skid Row’s “18 & Life.” Later, Lewis helped herself to some Van Halen, singing on “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love.” ... Eva Longoria’s upcoming club, Beso (which means “kiss”), is set for a late-summer launch. The new venue at Hollywood and Ivar is being designed by David Maman, who also built Geisha House, the Lodge, Dolce and Bella. The Venezuelan-born architect got his break two decades ago when he met Adolfo Suaya, who hired him to design and build his Gaucho Grill franchises.... Shopaholics can get their fix on Saturday on Melrose (between La Cienega and Orlando) as Bolthouse Productions hosts a summer sale for the designer YaYa.

Seen on the scene: Paula Abdul noshing light at Ketchup on Sunset last Thursday; Mandy Moore, Drew Barrymore, Jakob Dylan and Sophia Bush at Citizen Smith in Hollywood on Sunday; John Legend, Steve Jones, Brandon Flowers of the Killers dined at Simon LA (adjacent to the Stone Rose at the Hotel Sofitel) on Friday; and Calum Best hosted a party for Jamie Burke’s Bloody Social band at Les Deux last Wednesday night in Hollywood. Also kicking it at the Hollywood nightclub were Pharrell Williams, Jack Osbourne and Prince.... Visionshock, promoters who host parties for Asian singles, are launching a massive Friday night weekly at the Highlands nightclub in Hollywood on June 22.... One Sunset, the new restaurant and lounge expected to open Wednesday on the Sunset Strip at the old Bar One location, is hosting a pre-opening party on Tuesday for bestselling author Laura Day.
