Order given to clean up police force

Guatemala’s president ordered the national police to clean out corrupt officers and upgrade training after six members of the force were accused of killing three Central American Parliament members from El Salvador.
Four of the suspect officers were slain inside their jail cells.
President Oscar Berger gave the Interior Ministry 15 days to come up with rules that would make it easier to fire policemen accused of crimes. Authorities have complained that judges often reinstate dismissed officers under existing laws.
