Alan Greenberg, 55; sportswriter formerly worked for The Times

Alan Greenberg, 55, a former Times sportswriter who had worked for the Hartford Courant since 1985, died Tuesday, apparently of a heart attack, near his home in Sudbury, Mass.
Greenberg, who grew up in Baltimore and graduated from Syracuse University in New York, covered the Raiders and Rams of the NFL and UCLA basketball and football, among other sports, at The Times from 1979 to 1985.
He had most recently been assigned to cover the New England Patriots for the Courant, where he held a variety of posts, including columnist and NBA writer.
