An elderly Thousand Oaks man will be sentenced to six months in jail for operating a $300-an-hour prostitution ring.

Craig Fawcett, 75, pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy to commit a crime by running the enterprise.

On April 24, Ventura County Superior Court Judge Bruce Clark will sentence Fawcett. Without the plea deal, Fawcett would have faced a possible three-year prison term if convicted by a jury.

“He is not going to go to prison. We reached an agreement where he would do 180 days in the county jail followed by 36 months formal probation,” Deputy Dist. Atty. John Barrick said.

Fawcett used the Internet site Craigslist to solicit customers to homes and a yacht in Marina del Rey, investigators said.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department investigation into the operation run by Fawcett and co-defendant Bonnie L. Weiss, 50, of Agoura Hills began June 28, 2005. Weiss pleaded guilty and has served her jail sentence, Barrick said.

Investigators said two women worked for Fawcett and Weiss, who charged clients $300 an hour or $500 for two hours.
