Illegal immigrants sue over lack of visas

Illegal immigrants who have suffered from violent crimes sued the federal government Wednesday for failing to issue them protective visas approved by Congress several years ago.
The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act, signed in 2000, created a visa category that would let victims of violent crimes who cooperate with law enforcement remain in the country and apply for permanent residency.
