* San Diego 3, at Florida 1: Jake Peavy (4-1) held the Marlins hitless until Dan Uggla tripled with one out in the sixth inning to drive in an unearned run. Peavy struck out 10 in seven innings, including Miguel Cabrera, Mike Jacobs and Joe Borchard three times each. Trevor Hoffman earned his 490th save.

* at Cincinnati 9, Colorado 3: Josh Hamilton, continuing his comeback from years of drug abuse, hit two home runs and the Reds ended a four-game skid. He took a curtain call from the crowd after his eighth homer, and second of the game.

* at St. Louis 3, Houston 1: Braden Looper (4-2) gave up a run in six innings, and Scott Rolen came out of an 0-for-25 slump with a two-run single in a three-run fourth inning. The Cardinals put Preston Wilson on the disabled list because of a knee injury.

* at Arizona 3, New York 1: Livan Hernandez (3-1) gave up one run in seven innings and the Diamondbacks ended a 13-game home losing streak to the Mets dating to May 11, 2004. None of Arizona’s nine starters were with the club then.

* at Chicago 4, Washington 3 (10 innings): Daryle Ward singled home the winning run in the 10th inning after Ryan Theriot tied the score with a single in the ninth, and the Cubs picked up their fifth consecutive victory. Theriot’s hit came against closer Chad Cordero, who has four blown saves in eight chances.

* Philadelphia 8, at San Francisco 5: Ryan Howard and Shane Victorino each homered to spoil the major league debut of Tim Lincecum, a hard-throwing right-hander selected 10th overall by the Giants in the 2006 draft. Lincecum gave up five runs in 4 1/3 innings.

* at Milwaukee 6, Pittsburgh 4: Prince Fielder homered twice in the Brewers’ third consecutive win.

* at Atlanta 6, Dodgers 4: Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia got his first two major league hits, including a single to drive in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning.
