Re “One of Pasadena’s architectural jewels gets a polishing,” May 6
Pasadena City Hall is a shining example of how beautiful civic buildings can and should be. Unfortunately, when designing government buildings, most cities and counties adhere to the unwritten rule that civic buildings must be utilitarian, nondescript and, above all else, ugly. Pasadena’s forefathers didn’t get that memo, thank goodness.
