Dodgers won’t abandon the Dodger Dog
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The Dodger Dog won’t be deterred.
Dodger officials released a brief statement Tuesday indicating that they would continue selling the $4.75 frankfurter.
That came despite a plea Monday by animal rights activists that the club cut its ties to Farmer John and one of its suppliers, alleging that the makers of Dodger Dogs use meat from pigs raised in inhumane cages that are so small the animals can’t even scratch themselves.
According to the Dodgers, Farm John officials have assured the baseball team that “they are meeting all of the standards for animal welfare.”
