O.C. denizens: Wondering where your man was last night? Check Matador Alcove, a recently opened gentlemen’s club in Costa Mesa that promises access to “grooming, leisure and vice” for just $200 a year, says owner David Zimmerman. Members can take a spin in an Aston Martin (provided by a local dealership), settle in for a hot-towel facial or just kick back with a free Jack and Coke in front of a giant flat screen as a concierge caters to their every whim. Insiders also are assigned a locker for their private stash of cigars, cognac and other little luxuries. Tricked out with calfskin rugs and zebrawood walls, the private retreat offers a full menu of salon/barbershop services (with discounts for members), along with Friday night happy hours featuring a live Bossa Nova singer. There currently are nearly 350 members, including alpha-male hipsters Ryan Shuck of rock band Orgy and grooming biz entrepreneur Carlo Mondavi. “It’s the kind of clubhouse they had when they were a little kid,” Zimmerman says.
