Arbitron Inc. said it would delay the commercial use of its Portable People Meter radio ratings service in nine markets to address concerns raised by customers and community groups.
Paper diaries will stay in use in New York, Nassau-Suffolk, N.Y. and Middlesex-Somerset-Union, N.J., for nine months, New York-based Arbitron said. The introduction in Los Angeles, Riverside and Chicago was pushed back by six months and in San Francisco, San Jose and Dallas by three months.
