* New York 5, at Atlanta 1: Mike Pelfrey (1-7) gave up one hit in six innings, and Carlos Delgado, Lastings Milledge and Carlos Beltran each hit solo home runs to help the Mets win their second game in a row after getting swept in four games at Philadelphia. The Braves lost for the eighth time in their last 11 games and fell 6 1/2 behind the first-place Mets in the National League East.
* at Chicago 4, Houston 3: Aramis Ramirez hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the sixth inning, his 19th overall and first since Aug. 15, to back Jason Marquis (11-8), who gave up two runs and five hits in 6 2/3 innings.
* at Florida 12, Philadelphia 6: Mike Jacobs and Hanley Ramirez each had three hits, and the Marlins scored seven runs in the first inning when J.D. Durbin (6-4) failed to retire a batter. The Phillies’ winning streak ended at six games.
* at Arizona 13, Colorado 7: Tony Clark homered and tied a career high with five RBIs, and the Diamondbacks scored seven times in the second inning on the way to victory. Arizona remained a percentage point behind the first-place San Diego Padres in the NL West. Mark Reynolds had three of Arizona’s 14 hits.
* at Milwaukee 12, Pittsburgh 3: Dave Bush pitched six sharp innings and Bill Hall broke out of a hitting slump with four runs batted in as the Brewers collected 15 hits.
* at Washington 4, San Francisco 1: Joel Hanrahan (4-2) threw six innings of one-hit ball, Jesus Flores hit a home run and drove in two runs, and the Nationals’ seven-game skid came to an end.
* at St. Louis 11, Cincinnati 3: Rick Ankiel drove in three runs and Yadier Molina homered for the second consecutive game for the Cardinals.
* at San Diego 7, Dodgers 0: Jake Peavy (16-5) gave up two hits and struck out nine over seven innings, and Mike Cameron hit a grand slam.
