City police are searching for a man they suspect of attempting to molest a 13-year-old girl Sunday.
Police said a man identified as William Bandy III, 60, allegedly drove alongside a mother and daughter walking in the 1300 block of East Wilshire Avenue about 10:30 a.m., offering the woman money in exchange for the teenager’s performing a sex act.
The pair told police they ignored Bandy and attempted to walk away through the largely residential area, but investigators said the man allegedly followed the two in his car, offering more money.
The man drove away after the girl’s mother warned him to leave them alone, said Fullerton Police Sgt. Mike MacDonald.
Police said the man was driving a black 2003 Hyundai Sonata four-door, license number 5EGD885.
The vehicle was registered to Bandy, and connected to an out-of-date Placentia address, police said. Bandy is apparently wanted in Placentia on a sexual assault charge involving an adult, MacDonald said.
Bandy is described as white with gray hair, green eyes and several missing teeth, and was last seen wearing a red baseball cap and blue pullover knit shirt. Anyone with information can call Fullerton Det. Kathryn Crum at (714) 738-5327.
