Fleeing suspect is shot and killed
A 20-year-old man who police said was selling guns illegally was killed last week after fleeing from officers.
An undercover officer bought a gun from Ronald Boone and a 17-year-old near the corner of Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard last week as police watched the sale.
After the sale, officers arrested the 17-year-old, but Boone fled, leading police on a foot chase.
One of the officers shot Boone in the leg after he thought he saw Boone trying to draw a handgun.
Officer Kate Lopez, spokeswoman for the LAPD, said she could not confirm whether the undercover officer or a different uniformed officer at the scene had shot Boone.
Boone died about nine hours later at a local hospital.
