Kia Motors Corp., South Korea’s second-largest automaker, said President Byung Mo Ahn was adding the duties of chief executive of its Irvine-based U.S. unit, replacing Len Hunt, who left the company.
Kia Motors America’s vice president of marketing, Ian Beavis, also left, the Seoul-based company said. Kia said Tom Loveless, vice president of sales, would now report directly to Ahn.
“These changes are being made in an effort to respond to rapidly changing market conditions in the United States,” the company said.
Some analysts predict U.S. industry sales could fall to 15.5 million cars and light trucks this year, about 600,000 fewer than in 2007.
