MEXICAN HAT, UTAH — A bus carrying skiers to Arizona from a Colorado resort slid off a wet, curving highway and was destroyed in a crash that killed nine people and stripped the tires and roof off the vehicle.
The bus dropped off an embankment Sunday night in southeastern Utah. Seven people died at the scene and two others died at hospitals Monday.
Those killed included two high school students from Glendale, Ariz. About 20 other people from the Phoenix area were injured, some seriously, authorities and hospital officials said.
“The bus looked like a convertible,” said Jim Hook, the fire chief in Bluff.
