Joan Sutherland injured in fall

Opera star Joan Sutherland broke both legs in a fall in her garden in Les Avants, Switzerland, the newspaper the Australian reports.
The paper said the Australia-born soprano, 81, fell three weeks ago and is likely to spend up to eight weeks in a hospital.
Sutherland, once called “the voice of the century” by star tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who frequently appeared with her, made her last public performance, at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, when she was 64. Since her retirement, she has been living in her adopted home, Switzerland.
