At least 5 die in weekend storms
Weekend storms pounded the country from the Midwest to the East Coast, forcing hundreds to flee flooded communities and spawning tornadoes that tore up houses. At least five people were killed.
In Iowa, pumps and thousands of sandbags were sent to the Iowa City area, where officials feared a reservoir could top a spillway and flood the city of about 63,000 by Tuesday.
Residents of northern and southern Chicago suburbs cleaned up from at least seven tornadoes that tore roofs from homes, downed power lines and toppled tractor-trailers.
Lightning struck a pavilion at a state park in Connecticut, killing one person.
