* at Atlanta 8, Seattle 3: Mark Teixeira homered three times and drove in four runs for the Braves. Teixeira hit solo drives in the second and fourth innings, and a two-run shot in the seventh for his 13th home run. It was the second three-homer game of his career. Tim Hudson (8-5) gave up four hits in seven scoreless innings.

* at Chicago Cubs 7, Chicago White Sox 1: Ryan Dempster (9-2) won his ninth straight this season at Wrigley Field, and Eric Patterson and Aramis Ramirez homered in the same inning to help the Cubs complete a three-game sweep. The Cubs won their 14th straight home game and are 32-8 at Wrigley this season.

* Houston 3, at Tampa Bay 2: Carlos Lee hit a go-ahead two-run homer and Brandon Backe (5-8) pitched into the seventh inning to stop a personal three-game losing streak. The Rays’ Scott Kazmir (6-3), who had given up two runs over 30 2/3 innings in five previous home starts, gave up three runs in 5 2/3 innings.

* at Minnesota 5, Arizona 3: Brian Buscher had two hits and drove in two runs, helping beat struggling Brandon Webb and the Diamondbacks in the Twins’ sixth straight win. Webb (11-4), who lasted 3 1/3 innings in his last start against Oakland, gave up five runs in seven innings. He is 2-4 with a 4.64 earned-run average after a 9-0 start.

* at Boston 5, St. Louis 3 (13 innings): Kevin Youkilis hit a two-run homer against Mike Parisi in the bottom of the 13th inning to lift the Red Sox. The Cardinals had a chance to take the lead in the top of the 13th, but Chris Duncan was thrown out at home by J.D. Drew.

* at New York Yankees 4, Cincinnati 1: Andy Pettitte (8-5) tossed six innings of four-hit ball, Jason Giambi had a two-run double and the Yankees avoided a three-game sweep by winning for the 13th time in 18 games. Mariano Rivera earned his 21st save in 21 chances.

* at Oakland 7, Florida 1: Justin Duchscherer (8-4) bounced back from a first-inning home run to win his fourth straight start, Emil Brown hit a two-run single and the Athletics won the rubber game in the series. Duchscherer gave up one run and six hits in 7 2/3 innings

* at Kansas City 11, San Francisco 10: Mike Aviles had three RBIs and Joey Gathright drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, capping an eight-run comeback. The Giants had ace Tim Lincecum on the mound and a 10-3 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning.

* at Milwaukee 7, Baltimore 3: Prince Fielder hit two home runs, Corey Hart and Bill Hall also homered and the Brewers won for the sixth time in their last seven games. The Brewers have 45 home runs in their last 22 games, going 15-7 in that span.

* Toronto 8, at Pittsburgh 5: Cito Gaston earned his first win as Blue Jays manager in 11 years, getting home runs from Scott Rolen and Adam Lind to avoid the third 0-6 trip in team history. Gaston, who managed the Blue Jays from 1989-97, replaced John Gibbons on Friday.

* Detroit 5, at San Diego 3: Magglio Ordonez hit a two-run homer, Justin Verlander won his first road game of the season in his seventh try and the Tigers won the rubber match of a three-game series. Verlander (4-9) moved to 8-0 in interleague play, getting 10 strikeouts.

* Texas 5, at Washington 3: Frank Catalanotto delivered a tiebreaking, pinch-hit single in the eighth inning for the Rangers. Vicente Padilla (10-3) gave up three runs and five hits over seven innings to win for the eighth time in nine decisions since April 27. He struck out five.

* New York Mets 3, at Colorado 1: Mike Pelfrey (4-1) carried a shutout into the sixth inning, Carlos Beltran hit a two-run homer and the Mets ended a winning trip (3-2) under interim Manager Jerry Manuel.

* Angels 3, at Philadelphia 2: The Phillies lost their fifth in a row by scoring only five runs in the series.

* at Dodgers 4, Cleveland 3: The Indians lost despite Paul Byrd’s retiring 12 of 13 Dodgers in one span.
