Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain are locked in an extremely competitive race for this state’s 13 electoral votes, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Likely voters divide 49% for Obama, 46% for McCain -- within the poll’s margin of error.

If Obama prevails, he would become the first Democrat since 1964 to win the state.

The poll was conducted by telephone Thursday through Sunday among 1,001 adults. The results for the full sample have a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
