CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / LOS ANGELES
Homicide detectives have arrested a Los Angeles man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting outside a bar 30 years ago.
Ricardo Reyes, 63, was taken into custody at his home about 6:30 p.m. Thursday after witnesses identified him as a suspect in the slaying of 23-year-old Hugo Saltos Quiroz, authorities said Saturday.
Police discovered Quiroz’s body on Feb. 11, 1979, outside the Nuevo Colima bar, 6201 S. Western Ave. Five days later, a murder warrant was issued for Reyes’ arrest. A similar warrant also was issued for his brother, Pedro. Police said both men had gone to the bar in an attempt to gather information about the shooting of another brother.
In April, Pedro Reyes was taken into custody in Atlanta as he was reentering the United States from Mexico.
Detectives could not be reached for further information.
