Former President Chen Shui-bian pleaded not guilty today to a charge of receiving bribes in a land deal, Taiwan TV stations said.
The reports said the plea was in connection with prosecutors’ allegations that Chen and his wife got $9 million from a Taiwanese company to help it sell a piece of land to the government for the development of a science and industrial park.
Chen also faces three other counts of graft.
