Tim Floyd’s lack of integrity and outrage is beyond belief. If someone accuses me of cheating I would be speaking out until they unplugged the microphones.

In any case, why is Mike Garrett getting a pass? Does he work at USC with his head buried in the sand? Here’s a guy that tripped all over himself and had Pete Carroll land at his feet. Here’s a guy that had a dying man build the university a long-overdue basketball arena. By letting the football and basketball programs dangle in the wind, Garrett has proved that he has no integrity, no courage and is incapable of running a major university’s sports program. Time to step down, Mike.

Who besides Bill Plaschke has ever said Tim Floyd is the best basketball coach USC has ever had? Floyd isn’t even the best SC coach in the last decade. That would be Henry Bibby. And as for all time, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say Bob Boyd was the best in Trojans history, except there’s a guy named Sam Barry who coached USC to three Pacific Coast Conference titles, and he also coached the baseball team and acted as one of Howard Jones’ assistant coaches.

As for Tim Floyd, I’ll always think of him as Mr. One and Done. Floyd willingly embraced the rent-a-stud, er, student approach to winning , and gee, just look how well it worked out for him.

After reading that USC has lost nine players since the end of last season, Mike Garrett appears on the verge of fielding a team of juco transfers and walk-ons for the next couple of years. Instead of allowing the Galen Center to sit largely empty, why not lease the facility to UCLA during the Pauley renovation? A win-win for both local Pac-10 institutions.

I never realized that Mike Garrett was such a comedian. Since I read his statement, “What we have to protect is the integrity of the athletic department,” I haven’t stopped laughing!

About the only thing Tim Floyd did right was not saying that he was leaving USC to spend more time with his family.
