In reference to “In for a Shock?” [On the Spot, Feb. 15] about booking online:
My daughter and her friends booked a hotel in New Orleans for Mardi Gras a couple of years ago. They were all in their 20s. The hotel was highly recommended by the website on which they booked their trip. It turned out to be a hotel used by hookers, with most rooms booked by the hour. They lost their deposits, but they were wise enough to chalk it up to naivete and inexperience. It made for a great story when they returned, but I am thankful nothing else happened.
